Shelton Lock Small Cars and Scooters was launched in 2001 by father and son Bob and Mick Potter, who have more than 40 years motor experience between them. Bob explained 'We decided from the outset we would concentrate on small used cars under 1500cc such as Fiestas, Polos, Puntos, Corsas and Matiz.' Prices range from £1,500 to £5,000 but all are high quality low mileage cars which must have covered under 60,000 miles and have a service history.
To follow the low cost motoring theme, the company are also main dealers for new Microcar and Aixam cars, Sym scooters and the low cost, high quality Hyosung motorcycles.
USED CARS: When sold, all our used cars undergo a quality safety check. Essential repairs will always be carried out and a full MOT issued (if applicable), together with a FULL and proper service. This is backed up by our no quibble warranty. (Not mechanical insurance)
In the future, for as long as you have the car, you are entitled to our Lifetime Customer Loyalty Discount whereby the labour rate will be reduced by 20% for servicing or repairs carried out on your car.
SYM SCOOTERS: SYM is partly owned by Honda and this reflects in the quality of build in the Sym range. Being made by Taiwan 's largest scooter manufacturer makes them affordable with prices starting from under £1,000. These are NOT to be confused by cheap Chinese makes.
All new SYM scooters have a two years warranty and some models come with the benefit of subsidised insurance which we are able and happy to arrange for you. Scooter & motorcycle training at all levels is arranged through Easyrider from nearby Alvaston, Derby. Your new purchase is delivered there if required.
MICROCARS: These are at the top end of the light car market (Quadra cycle) which means you may be able to drive on a motorcycle licence if you passed your test prior to 2001 (Catorgory B1). They are also handy for being pulled behind Motorhomes.
They can be supplied under the Motability scheme. All Micro cars carry a full warranty for two years and a further year on the engine.
AIXAM: Very similar to the Microcar but slightly different style, giving you a wider choice. As with Microcar, Aixam is also available on Motability, can be driven on a motorcycle licence and carry the same warranty.
HYOSUNG: These low cost but high quality Motorcycles are the latest range at Shelton Lock Small Cars & Scooters. Established in South Korea in 1978, Hyosung have benefited from a technical tie in with Suzuki since 1979, manufacturing high quality motorcycles and components to ISO standards.
HYOSUNG motorcycles start at £2,495 for the 125cc, range up to £3,995 for the 650cc sports bike and for the top of the range 650cc cruiser at ,£4995.
At these prices, Hyosung are the best value, high quality motorcycle on the UK market. To cap this, they all come with a two years, unlimited mileage, parts & labour warranty. FINANCE: Arranged through Close Motor Finance, who are able to offer finance for all vehicles we supply. Usually, only a low deposit is required and rates are very competitive.
BIKES/SCOOTERS
SERVICING: All servicing, repairs and MOT work on both cars & scooters are carried out by experienced technicians in our own workshops. These are at reasonable rates, and if you bought your car from us a 20% discount will be applied to the labour rate.
You can rest assured that we only carry out work that is required and you will be kept informed along the way.
ACCESSORIES: A wide range of scooter and motorcycle accessories are always available, such as helmets, gloves, clothing and security chains etc. All at reasonable prices and if purchased at the time you buy your bike or scooter, a 15% discount will apply.
